Amid the COVID-19 Crisis, Next Generation Leaders are Serving as Angels of Hope Throughout Eurasia
3.31.2020
Dear Friend,
We pray you and your family are well amid this ongoing crisis, and that you continue to be encouraged by the hope we have in Christ. We are so thankful that, in these trying times, our Lord remains faithful to hear our prayers and knows the plans He has for our lives. We also are grateful for your continued prayers and faithful support.
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted people around the globe. The needs are urgent, many are hurting, and Mission Eurasia continues to respond to desperate calls for help.
Your prayers and financial gifts to the ongoing work amid this growing crisis are so vital to our ministry and they help:
- Student leaders to receive specialized training for moments like this and to be equipped through online resources.
- The elderly and shut-ins to receive deliveries of essential food, medicine, and encouragement.
- Emotional support hotlines to be available to those needing counseling and spiritual support.
- The gospel to continue to be shared with those in need throughout Eurasia through resources like our special printed COVID-19 prayer guide, also to be available through an online app.
We are hearing encouraging reports from the field. For example, our School Without Walls (SWW) leaders that you helped train to be angels of hope are going door-to-door and meeting needs through our support hotlines.
In Ukraine, SWW leaders reached out to families and youth at a government center to provide meals, protective masks, Bibles, and other Christian materials. In Rishon LeZion, Israel, they delivered food packages and hope to the elderly who were once prisoners of concentration camps during the Holocaust. And in Tokmak, Kyrgyzstan, leaders worked with the local church to provide food for 100 families, including small children, the elderly, and sick.
Our SWW leadership team also has developed posters and guidelines on effective ministry strategies during the crisis that are available for download. This past Saturday, leaders hosted a web conference, “Our Answer to the Pandemic: Church Ministry in the Face of New Challenges.” More than 7,000 people have already watched the conference. Other similar events are being planned.
Please stay tuned for more updates on how we can continue to move forward together in ministry amid these challenges. If you have questions or would like to share your personal prayer requests, please send an email to paul@missioneurasia.org.
